The Calm Tusker of Corbett

The most gentle roadblock we have ever encountered.

It was an unforgettable moment in the grasslands of Corbett National Park. We first spotted this magnificent tusker walking happily through the grass. Then, to our surprise, he stepped onto the narrow safari track, straight in front of our jeep.

There was only one sensible plan: reverse and get out of his path as quickly as possible.

The tusker kept walking calmly towards us, completely unbothered, while our jeep moved backwards down the track. For a while, it felt like he had booked the entire road just for himself. Eventually, we found a small side path, moved out of the way, and watched him continue his walk without a care in the world.

A reminder from the wild: this is their home, their path, and we  simply need to give space.
